Thought some of you might be interested in this site, (excuse if you're already familiar with it) A bit like this forum but covers house buying. Regional forums seem good with plenty of clues as to whats happening in housing market in your area.

Sounds like a major plummet in prices is gathering pace. I hear Kirsty and Phil plan a new series location location location Shantytowns, following couples looking for Motorhomes and mobile homes to move into after their 5 bed Detacheds in series 1 are put up for auction. Also, that Sarah Beeny plans a new series following on from the popular Property Ladder. Property Snake will follow budding property investors and buy to letters as they attempt to ad a new kitchen in a last ditch effort to sell their houses for a price similar to what they bought them for.  A medical team will be at hand for when the new prices are revealed at the end by '3 independent local estate agents'.

The housepricecrash.co.uk site has a really interesting section called 'anecdotals' where people are posting threads about things they're hearing, seeing about housing market and economy eg. Are the roads dead were you live, Local Estate agent out cutting hedges, Heard on grapevine local knicker factory is closing etc etc sort of depressing and worrying but at the same time mildy addictive reading.

Been a member of hpc for a number of years. Had some very unpleasant bulls there a few years ago. Funny how they have cleared off now.

That's where a lot of the info on here comes from posted by users that come across as if they know a thing or two. In fact they read a thing or two I think you'll find.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Do be aware most of these HPC people are speculators who have sold their properties a few years ago because they thought the property market would crash and they could make a killing by buying back in at a cheap price.

Instead prices rocketed and they lost out big time. That's why they are so bitter.

Now they are doing all they can to drive prices down, including posting doomster type predictions on all the websites in town.

It's helpful to know that they they have a vested interest in lower prices - if prices don't come down, they will be forced to rent forever - and thus their "information" may not be objective..

Most posts have links to reputable News sources. You forgot to mention that this site was very popular with first time buyers renting houses that in normal circumstances would have been buying the place on a mortgage 3.5 times their incomes. BTL merchants and property speculators have whipped up these prices along with loose lending so a mortgage of 5/6 times a salary is or should that be WAS needed.

Totally unsustainable and anyone who bought a house a 5-6 years ago is 'losing' nothing as house prices have doubled and more. They are just seeing their 'winnings' reduced.

Funny how all of a sudden when the boots on the other foot all these property buyers expect sympathy and crumpets. Did they ever stop to think about the feelings of young people locked out of buying a starter home when they were crowing in the office about the money they were making from their 'property portfolios'

There may well be biased views, and a few bitter STR's who moved too early on HPC. And you need a filter to tune into the useful stuff. In my experience there as a regular reader I can tell you that they have broken ALL the important stories first, particularly as the credit crunch started. They were at least a year ahead of the UK media and have been a useful balance against the unending property pyramid spin of the last few years.

What they do now will be interesting as HPC has now moved mainstream. Perhaps the market is there to be the first one to create HousePriceRise.com...
