Such a thing as a large keypad mobile?

Am looking for something like this for my father who has arthritis and finds keying numbers awkward.

The Emporia got quite a lot of coverage in the press recently, but it looks a bit expensive for what you get...

Why not simply use speed dial? e.g. press one key instead of keying in a dozen digits.

That sounded the perfect solution for my Dad, but he just couldn't get the idea of a key that does one thing if you press it, but something different if you press it and hold it down.

He'd eventually seem to understand, but a month or two later he'd be back to me saying it wasn't working properly: "Look - if I press the key twice it just gives me the same digit twice"....

The RNIB sell a small range of large key, simple 'phones. Got one for my mum which has 5 pre-programmed numbers of her choice to ring and can receive incoming calls from people who know the number - full stop! It aint cheap but certainly solved my mum's problems and she is very happy with it.

Not sure if this will work......

My partner does a lot of inputting number work on her laptop so has a large key pad thing (looks like a big calculator) that she plugs into the laptop. I don't know if you could attach it to a mobile but it is a standard USB connection.

you usually still have to press a button for it to work - eg. its press and hold the volume down button on sony ericssons to activate voice dialing
