Changing PIN...

It seems that this can be done only at a cash machine... or am I wrong?

Yes. and possibly not every cash machine - depends what network your card is 'on'
  • Have just been told that it can be done at a bank branch - provided it's a bank issued card.

Every thought of Binning Your PIN with your Credit Cards?

Unless you need to use your Credit Card for Cash (which is expensive). Why not get yourself Chip & Signature Credit Cards?

You'll never need to worry about compromising your PIN again or being held liable for PIN misuse. Plus you're preventing Crooks from accessing your money via an ATM using a cloned or stolen card.

.....preferably by using their cash machine.

The alternative would be for the bank to instruct their computer to send you a new one in the post.

I thought you couldn't do this any more. I can see the obvious benefits here, but I can't imagine having to explain to the cashier each and every time I purchase something that I don't want to use a pin, and that I want to sign it.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

    Hope the following helps:

Chip & Signature Cards look exactly like Chip & PIN. You can't tell the difference.

    Here's how they work.

When you insert a Chip & Signature Card into a Chip reading Terminal (PIN Pad) in a shop, rather than promting YOU to enter a PIN, the shop assistant is prompted to check the signature.

A transaction slip is then produced for you to sign. The shop assistant checks the signature on the magstrip with the signature on the transaction slip.

No Card Holder Liability Issues for alleged PIN misuse.

I even used my Chip & Signature Card at Tesco Pay at the Pump yesterday. No Signature Check, the prompt just said 'Verified' "Fill with up to £80 worth of fuel." This is an issue for Tesco if ever my card was used fraudulently to obtain fuel.

Yes you can still have Chip & Signature rather than Chip & Pin.

However the banks do not advertise this as such, so you have to request it. I suspect that they would rather you have Chip & Pin, because in the case of fraud they feel that if the Pin is used then they can claim that you have been negligent with your Pin.

Ah, thanks, I didn't realise you could specifically request a card like that.
