Good post. Shame I can only thank it once.
To head further OT, have you ever tasted a fresh, ripe lemon off a lemon bush GG? My father in law has a bush in his back garden in Sydney and it's a revalation. The ones in the local supermarket seem to taste of battery acid by comparison.

Never had a fresh, ripe lemon but I shall make my life's mission to do so. If ever I go to Sydney, I'll look up Generali in law.

You don't need to go quite that far - loads of lemons seem to grow more or less wild in Israel....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

As an Old Styler, it doesn't bother me. I make ersatz lemons from old tennis balls soaked in vinegar, to enjoy with my bathtub gin!'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0

Indeed, even closer to home..... I saw some last week growing outside the tea rooms in Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens. A nongenarian friend in Wiltshire also has some in his glasshouse all year round.0
