I use an independent garage for everything, I have even taken it in with an engine management light on under warranty they told me the problem which would cost about £1000 to fix in parts alone, The guy told me to take it to a main dealer and it would be a warranty repair and cost me nothing. no charge for diagnostics all they do is connect them to a computer now and it tells them the fault. I did contact the main dealer and they said it would be £65 for diagnostics if the fault wasn't a warranty repair but I was confident it was.

Main dealers are a rip off, I asked about a service on my car £345+vat I paid the independent £156 inc everything. He knows that I will be a regular customer, I recommend him as he does a great job for me and my families cars, not leaving stuff till it breaks, he tells us of any problems and gives us the price and fixes it. if the breaks are low he says they will need doing at the next service or maybe earlier so we get no shocks when it goes in the next time.

You need to find a good garage.

Thanks guys..ok oil is at times leaking from under the car, we have had oil stop put in and an oil change which may have partly worked as not leaking as bad but still..
I will get some quotes tommorow BUT am still hacked off at the dealers, after being ripped off by 2 local garages i have to say i have used the dealer since and never been charged for them looking at the car before..as i said i know the owner and have always thought them to be a good honest garage dealer or not.
I am in South devon (brixham) so if anyone does know of anywhere/one i would be very gratefull!
    Thanks again.

    whats that mean?

id say its disgusting being charged £80 to be told whats wrong, any decent place offers free quotes especialy on something simple like brakes

to be honest...and im not having a bash , if you cant afford to get consumables replaced on this car what makes you think buying another used car will make things better, brakes wear out on all cars and id expect any used car to need several jobs doing to make it right

Hi i am not thinking of getting another used car i am looking at leasing one hopefelly but looking at the prices they seem to have gone up a lot since, at least then i won't have to worry about things going wrong on it!
