Smoke coming from Steering Column!!!! HELP!
Options
Hiya guys
Any mechanics out there?
My girlfriend just jumped into her Ford KA after finishing a long days work and when she put the key in the ignition and turned it she said smoke started coming out from the steering column (holes where the indicators are attached etc).
She said she left it a minute, tried again and same thing. We've left the car there and will get our mechanic to pick it up but not something I've heard of ever. Anyone any ideas?

I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

On the Escorts, there was an electrical connector at the back of the ignition switch which was known for melting. Wonder if its the same on the Ka.0

Easiest thing would be to remove the cowel and find the source of the problem. No doubt a wiring fault.0
