Hi, Hope someone can give me a bit of advice and information about this. I'm wanting to take myself, OH and 3 children who will be aged 11,9 and 3 to Eygpt next year for a fortnight and am thinking about going at the end of May. The travel agent tells me that it will probably cost around 3600 for a fortnight but I've been looking at sites like Travel Republic and On the Beach. com and it seems we could do it a lot more cheaply if we organise the trip ourselves rather than booking a package. I just wonder if any of you lovely people out there could give me some advice re doing this and also give informnation re resorts that are relatively child friendly. From what I've seen think I'm probably looking at Sharm el Sheikh or Hurghada and wondered what the experience of other M.S.E. posters with children had been in these resorts.
Thank you in advance for any advice/information given. It is very much appreciated.

Took the words right out of my mouth, were looking as well but for september, I did look on "on the beach" but I was told as by a travel agent that said, she had worked for them, there prices look cheap but as you get to the booking stage it will rise alot?, thats her words.
Sharm looks good and some hotels have there own mini aquapark by the looks of it, which would be good for children.
I did get a quote for early August this year from co-op travel, for 2 Adults and 2 children for £2500 in sharm All inclusive, but I was told it might be a bit hot for children then?.
Also an all inclusive adult is anyone over 12 years old.
Some people say you need a visa at about £25 each, but I have been told as long as you don't go out of the resort area's you don't need them.0 -
My only advice would be make sure you take lots of immodium and remember to take hand wipes and use them everytime you handle currency.......You have been warned!:rotfl:0

take lots of £1 coins for tipping & Lots of insect repellent, a must! .. and make sure you have some tissues when u are visiting outside your hotel and also for travelling home, there's never any toilet rolls in the loos. Anti bacterial hand wash is needed too0

we went last december with my 5 year old and had a great time, we stopped in sharm el sheikh and first choice do a hotel that is fantastic it has lots to do there its called holiday village, we booked quite late to save us money we went for 2 adults 1 child all inclusive for 2 weeks for about £1200 we got chatting to a family there that had paid more than that for a week he was gutted, i always go into holiday hypermarket and speak to them there and get them to help find me a cheap holiday lol Seeing the pyramids was amazzing and something i will never forget and my little boy still goes on about it now
The beach and sea is brilliant and so clear you can walk out for miles and walk amongst the fish sorry long post got carried away remembering lol0 -
Hi there,
We are also thinking about going at the end of may or beginning of june with hubby and 4 year old daughter. Isn't Sharm El Sheik really far from the pyramids??0 -

Yes pyramids /Cairo are 510Km away. Most visitors staying at SES travel by plane on 1hr. internal flight which costs £150 ish. Alternatively (which with a young child you may want to avoid) coach travel 8 hrs. leaving SES 2am. I beleive. This is one hell of a day (travelling that is)0

Thank you for that.
Would you know roughly how much a flight would be to the pyramids. Would love to go there but really fancy staying in Sharm and maybe a week by the pyramids. Sorry to hijack0 -
yeah it is you leave early in the morning its a long day trip but defiantly worth it but it depends how well your child/ren travel, my boy was fine and we had lots of stops went for a meal visit some other places and so much goin on for them to look at, comfy coach so he could recline and sleep when he wanted and a ds cme in handy 2 lol
Remember if your going egypt and planning to visit pyramids you need to get a visa which you pay for in english money on arrival at the airport0 -
yo never really stay for longer than a couple of days in cairo but its not really a nice place to be honest, hotels are ok, with the kids it can be a bit of a hikeI am a Travel Agent
