  • A really quick lunch -

Take a bag of tortilla chips - put in a shallow dish
A tin of Heinz sweet chilli beans - pour over chips
Grated cheese - over beans and bake in overn for 10-15 mins

Simple nachos which children love (especially with corn on the cob) all very good fun and messy finger food.

This one serves 4 (if hungry/big eaters then with garlic bread ;))

Chop and fry onion, squirt of garlic puree. Add 3 drained tins of beans - kidney, black eye, butterbeans - what ever you have ;)

Add carton of passata and herbs. Chop one smoked pork sausage and add to the dish. Stir. Cook till fully heated.

    Serve :D

This is what I cook when I have a miserable baby who HAS to be carried; its super fast preparation, although it takes a bit longer in the oven.

Take frozen cod in a smallish dish (I use a greased cake tin!) and cover in a tin of ratatouille. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Add cheese on top and give it another 5 minutes (or go by cooking time on cod packet).

Serve with rice or whatever bread you can find in the house!

trying this tonight for me and baby - I love fish and ratatouile - so will try him with it too

    Hi everyone
This is my 1st time posting on this board so if i am in the wrong place i appologise.

I was just wondering if anyone has cheap and quick meal ideas as i am currently 32 wks pregnant and have a constantly hungary (and growing) son and partner to feed.
Obviously mat leave pay isnt the best so am trying to cut back on my shopping bill. So also any snack making ideas would be gret too.

I would be greatful for any suggestions:o
  • congrats on your baby!!

spag bol is always an easy option. fry mince and an onion, bung in a tin of tomatoes, an some mushrooms or otherextras if you have, and serve with pasta.

toad in the hole: you could use a paket of batter mix, make as directed and chuck in some onion and sausages and bung in the oven.

chicken in pitta (my absoutle fav): grill a chicken breast, heat a pitta bread up, fill with chicken breast, mayo and serve with loads of salad. really yummy very quick and healthy to.

Ill comeback if i think of anymore x

  • As from next week when i start uni my life is going to be going at about 100 mph  , so what i’m after is plenty of cheap but fast recipes to feed the family. I’m thinking perhaps 30 mins ish from start to table (if that’s actually possible). I’m not sure if there’s already a thread about this subject, if there is could somebody give me a shove in the right direction please.

    Thanks in advance
