Help with frizzy hair whilst abroad!

Options
My wife has really thick hair and likes to straigten it whilst on holiday, the problem is when we travel to Florida as soon as she goes out of the hotel room her hair frizzes up due to the humidity. Does anyone know of any products that will help keep her hair straight whilst in such humidity? The normal frizz serums don't seem to work at all. Help!!

She could try some Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner (if shes allergic to nuts then she shouldnt use it as it contains macadamia nut oil).

Miracle Moist is for hair thats dry/damaged or not too happy. It helps condition and smooth the hair.

I don't suffer from frizz in humidity but the opposite my hair goes flatter still.

She's been gone for quite a while now. I miss her.

I use John Frieda's FRIZZ-EASE hair serum. You put it onto wet hair and leve it. Then wash and style your hair as you normally would.

There's probably a suitable product you can buy in Florida, that would be more effective than anything bought in UK

She might have problems straightening it with British straightners in the States, I did in Costa Rica. It's because the voltage there is 110 not 240 like we (and our appliances) are used to. I had my ghd's with me, and although they switched on fine, they just never seemed to get hot enough to be effective.
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D

Ah - I feel for her and can only sympathise really.
I found Florida (Ft Lauderdale) not only humid but windy too.
Then went off Bahamas and spent each day on a yacht.
There are no photographs of that trip.:D

Same problem with my hot air styler (ha); voltage was so low that all it managed was "phut"

I would suggest Frizz-ease serum and the Elvive range in the pink seems quite good.
(Then again, I think I have about £300's worth of hair products under my spare bed.)

    What do I know?

  • i live in a sub tropical climate and im a ex hairdresser there is no known cure for this problem apart from spending your time living in airconditioning, my advice is wear a hat it helps with sun damage too, tie it up or just be frizzy like everyone else
  • Thanks everyone. She has ghd mk IV's which are dual voltage and worked well in Florida last year. She has also tried the John Frieda serum and I've also bought her some Kerastase Oleo Relax Serum this year which cost me a fair bit. Hopefully the Kerastase stuff will work this year then. If not i've got the answer for her- a pair of hair clippers!!:rotfl: She's costing me a fortune

I too have this problem and my ghd`s work fine abroad so long as I remove the centre screw and plug them in direct. I use clynol products (tell her to try stretch) and a fine hairspray after I have finished straightening my hair and it works wonders. I have hair that is almost affro so after taking the trouble to get it straight I want it to stay that way.

I too have hair that goes wild in the humidity and heat !! I swear by the following products:-

1.redken smooth down - quite procey but it lasts ages as you only need a tiny amount, look on e-bay its alot cheaper (approx £12)

2.andrew barton-anti-frizz cream, its only sold in asda, but its fantastic and only costs £4.

Ive used loads of products over the years and the two above are the best ive ever used, it allows you to dry your hair either straight or defines curls (so no big mop of frizz)

    Hope that helps
