My Father is due to go away in a couple of weeks time, he is unable to get any travel insurance as about 1 month ago he had two stents placed in his heart. Does anyone know of any travel insurance companies that would cover him in such cicrumstances?
Does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks in advance

My dh had a massive heart attack and emergency stents fitted July 2000 has been fine since (thankfully) we're going to Spain in August and got our insurance from http://www.insureandgo.com
the price for a family of 5 including dh (heart condition declared and covered) was very reasonable. May be worth a look. Best wishes to your dad.I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0 -
Thank you very much..........we will take a look although I think our problem is going to be that the op was os recent.
Thanks for your wishes x0 -
Hi! Last year we had to cancel a holiday to Spain as my dh had to have an emergency angioplasty, one blocked artery cleared and a stent inserted. He was told to wait two weeks before flying which meant we had to cancel the holiday as it would have come within that period and we claimed on the travel insurance we had. We rebooked something similar for the third week after the operation (cardiologist said this would be fine) but had to get insurance to take account of his new pre-existing medical condition.
Did this with Saga - spoke to them on phone and they ask various pertinent medical questions.
Had a week in Spain this June and did the insurance with them again. After return he saw the cardiologist again as still some problems - result - another artery with some blockage and another angioplasty and stent. Went to Bruges last weekend and did the Saga insurance again. Unfortunately they won't do annual cover on him because of his medical history but are quite happy to do it on an as needed basis. Fortunately he is fine but getting used to idea that travel insurance will always cost more now!

I have had two heart ops and both times have been able to fly within a few weeks for these trips I was insured through columbus direct at a very reasonable cost. Columbus say most of their trade is from people with existing conditions. I did try saga but, they were much more expensive in my case.0

The cardiac rehab nurse for your local hospital should have a list of companies. Or try the British Heart Foundation website they tend to be well informed.0

I am a Travel counsellor and the insurance we sell comes highly recommended from FSA insurance sellers as you can get cover for people with pre-exisitingmedical conditions that other insurance companies wont.0
