Have they billed you for the missed period?

I did this for a year, when a Uswitch went wrong and two suppliers were battling over my custom, neither being able to give me an answer as to whether they were supplying my property or not (was complicated by a mixup of addresses with the other flat, and an Economy7 meter).

Once the year was up and the battle won, Southern Electric wanted £1,400 from me! :rotfl: Well, I had used that electric, so simply set up a payment plan with them...

Yeah, most suppliers will give you a bit of an extended payment plan in these situations anyway.
