Near Heathrow

Ive got my brother, sister in law and their 4 kids coming to the UK for a visit next year :j :j anyway the plan is that they are flying into heathrow and hiring a motorhome - but what im wondering is - if anyone knows if there is a camping ground/park or similar, close to Heathrow so they can stay there the first couple of nights and get their bearings etc lol.....I dont know London and so dont even know where to start looking but I know they will want to get the train etc into London and do the 'touristy' things there and then they are heading to Scotland......Any one who can point me in the direction of a camping ground - id much appreciate it........thanks

  • I think the nearest place is at Chertsey, Surrey - it is a caravan club park on the River Thames about 15-20 minute drive from Heathrow.

I live in Surrey, 30 minutes drive from Heathrow. Anywhere around here is just a short drive into the country and leafy surroundings.
I would have a look on ukcampite website and find a nice site.
    For example in surrey:

There is a campsite at the basingstoke canal centre. I had no idea, I live just down the road from it!! If you were to stay there, (although I cant vouch for how good it is!), then there are a number of main line stations (woking, brookwood, farnborough, and branch line with direct trains bagshot, camberley, frimley,) all to london within a very short drive away.

    Hope that helps.
