Scottish and Southern have a social tariff Energyplus Care. They say customers will have no increase in prices untill early 2009 and it will still be 20% cheaper than their standard tarrif !!!!

if you have heart trouble will it count

Depends on what you mean by heart trouble, if you talking heart attack or angina, that could pass as coronary heart disease, which is a chronic illness.

  • EDF have a social tariff for certain people, those in receipt of certain benefits or with disabilities. They basically give you 15% off of your electricity bill, simple as that! Worth a ring to see if you qualify

Good idea. We don't qualify, though.

I'm not sure I would either Margaret although I am considered disabled (serious heart condition) and in receipt of attendance allowance. To be honest a hard winter wouild be a big problem to me as I take warfarin and my blood is approx four times thinner than normal. I have asked my supplier (Atlantic) about their social tariff. They promised to send the necessary papers but they are a long time coming. This tariff reduced the rates on Gas & Electricity by 20%. Well worth having! Also, I just noticed they have refunded my account with £80+ as a thank you for being a loyal customer.
The same will apply for the next two years and applied since we started with them. I believe they are said to be the best of the handfull of suppliers.

    Hi Jake's Gran

I would qualify on the eligibility criteria, like you, but not on the household income criterion.

I did qualify for WarmFront because AA is not means-tested.

    Best wishes

Same here and, it must have cost a lot as the thoroughly good engineer who did the job was here for a week. What I am referring to is that the total has been reduced to £2700 but he said when he was here that if we had employed him privately it would not have been cheap in view of the amount of work involved. New boiler, cistern, radiators in some rooms etc.

Thank you for your good wishes. I am waiting for the results of a very detailed exercise test at the moment. My cardiologist might let me go on holiday by air if the result is OK. Think he is reluctant though.
