rendering quote.

Due to blown render and some penetrating damp, had a quote from a damp company for removal of render and re-rendering externally - 85 sq metres and 16 angles (bays windows x2). £5,525.
This does not include scaffold or painting finished render.
Does this seem a reasonable quote - reckons it is a 2 week job.

Is it plain faced render? ie just sand and cement rubbed up, there are many different types.

what heights are they is it just a two storey property?

is that plus vat or not? are they providing skips?

as there are a number of different questions it is hard to estimate a general rate but for plain faced render is about 25 -30 pound a metre, up in sunny yorkshire.

so the original estimate seems a bit on the steep side to me,even allowing for knocking off existing render. if it is plus scaffolding aswell ,get some more quotes but dont neccessary get the cheapest one though as rendering can look terible if not done to a good standard as any imperfections are difficult to cover up

seems dear to me ( lancs), but think about alternatives cos if the old render came off it may be due to damp walls . Breathable lime based, self (permanent ) coloured finish that can look like bricks or stones might do you. youtube wall coating there are are few sample companies.
