Pet Insurance for older cat

Hi,

Our cat is around 10 years old and getting pet insurance for her is proving tricky.

I have just insured our new kitten with petplan on their life cover.

For our older cat they won't do life cover and they also insist you pay 20% of any vet fees plus the excess.

Does any know any good pet insurers for older cats?

Thanks

Paul

I would HIGHLY recommend insuring your older cat. Two weeks ago, I managed to run over my 12 year old cat in the car (accidently!). To cut a long story short, she had no broken bones (miraculously) and no damage to internal organs but had to have an operation to put everything back in it's place and sew up her abdominal wall internally. It has cost me £936 so far. Tonight I will take her to have her stitches out and I expect it will cost me another £50.

My sister has been looking into insuring her 12 year old cat and has found a company - I will check with her who it is and get back to you!

I will be insuring my cats from now on - it's scary how quickly the costs added up and I had to pay it all in one go!

I will also be checking under my car before I reverse down my drive in future!

    thanks for your help.

I know she recently had a virus of some sort and after a few tests and a nights stay the bill was up to £350.

Would pay anything to fix her so think insurance is the best bet. Just need to find one for older cats.

    Cheers again.

thanks. It was a competitve quote but they also insist on the 20% on the vet fees.

Are there any out there that don't have this and just have the excess?

We have 2 cats aged 15 and didn't want to pay the exorbitant fees that insurance companies ask for, so we just put money away every month and then if they do need to go to the vets it won't come as a big shock. They haven't been to the vets for years and never seem to get ill (touch wood), so we've saved quite a bit by not having insurance.

My cat is 10 years old and insured with Sainsburys - competitive price. Plus get discount if you cover a second with them and I got Quidco cash back
