Inheritance question

Sorry if this is in the wrong place (moderators pls move if so, thanks). A friend of ours is a beneficiary in her elderly father's will. She stands to inherit a good amount of money - not 'millions' but the product of her fathers life work and savings plus money from her deceased mums estate. This friend is due to marry in a couple of weeks and the man she is marrying has lots of debt. Her father does not want his money to be used to pay off this mans debt. Can he write a clause in his will to this effect or once his daughter inherits does this money become hers to do as she likes (including paying off her husbands debt if she chooses)?

I would be tempted to post this in the savings and investment thread. There are lots of knowledgeable people in there and I'm not sure if they would venture onto the families resource thread.John
