TROJAN HORSE - idiots guide needed to repair computer

last Friday came home from work to find my son struggling to remove trojan horse from computer - I tried running another scan on the free avg8.0 that I had loaded but it runs for so long detecting various threats then the computer closes out to protect itself - i also tried system restore to no avail - as we had to leave for holiday in the early hours I had to switch the whole thing off at electrics & have left it until this morning when we returned home

basically when I turn the pc on it warns that there are viruses on screen & my desktop screen looks abnormal but I can go online (as you can see!)

I don't know what to do to repair the machine & I won't go on my banking pages as I'm frightened of compromising my accounts

PLEASE HELP!

when you finish can you post the combifix log here and then a hijackthis log (tells you how at the end of the idiots guide )

I'll take a look and tell you if there is anything left to clean

its the infection we are after ;) does not matter which browser we use

combifix should kill the main problem

the rest makes sure it has not installed anything else

the hijackthis log just lets me see whats installed , even if you do not use Ie as your browser

  • right - had to download recovery thingy from microsoft then started combofix - it gave me a log then wouldn't go any further, saying I had to post the log to my helper - I copied the text, then came out of combofix to be met with a complete blue screen, no start button, nothing. I then shut my macine off, restarted it, intending to reply to you here & pasting the log, but I have nothing to paste!!

    Hi,

Please use This page to open up the event viewer in Windows. This should contain information about the bluescreen, which we'll need to help you figure things out. Also, have you tried simply restarting and doing the scan again, to copy the log to us again?
