Abbey cards expiring 07/08 - late dispatch

Not sure if I am being spun a yarn by Abbey but my Debit card expired 07/08 and earlier this week I rang them to say that I have not received a replacement. Apparently every Abbey customer with a card expiring (now expired) 07/08 will not have their card dispatched until the 2nd August at the earliest. The reason is a software problem... amazing that this time last year their problem was the Tewkesbury floods.

This is really inconveniencing me and if I were late providing a payment etc. to them I would expect to be charged.

Apparently they are sending a letter out to inform me but to date I have not received it. Had I not telephoned them I would be none the wiser.

My electron card with them was exp 07/08 and I got a new one on the 15th of July, so it certainly isn't everyone.

    Spun a yarn, I think
Though they do have problems with their computer systems on a regular basis...

Maybe you should just dump shAbbey?
