Powergen - finally had enough

Well after 7 months of sorting out various problems I have my latest proper powergen bill. Tarif is wrong, gas reading is wrong (but my correct reading still shows up online) and they are putting my DD up for the third time (I've had it put back down twice already) despite being £100 in credit.
I went on several switching sites and ebico are about £2 a year dearer but they do quarterly billing. So stuff all these monthly DD's, phone calls, emails, crashed websites and incomprehensible tarifs, I'm off back to paper billing. Get my bill, pay it = heaven.

What was unbelievable was that on one website powergen scored 5 stars for customer service and ebico scored 2. Thats got to be rubbish.
Regards

  • I'm heading the same way. I'm showing £61. in credit (both on my last bill and my account online) as I've paid by monthly d/d for years, but when I phoned them to ask if they'd send me a cheque (they'd be quick enough to chase me as a customer) I was told I'm actually £276.33 in debit to them! I'm supposed to be getting a bill any day now from them to this effect... I wait with baited breath

What is it with Powergen? I've been trying to calculate my annual useage in Kw/h to allow me to compare (and hopefully change) providers. I CANNOT make sense of the bill/meter readings/charges etc & their website is down (well - I can't view any bills or make any meter readings!!) AAARRRRGGGHHHH...it gets me so cross!

I'm paying £70 per month, dual fual. Does anyone have a rough idea how much of this would be for gas & how much for electric? I've got a small 3 bed-semi, have a combi boiler/gas heating but EVERYTHING else is electric. There are 4 of us in the house (inc. 2 kids) Any ideas?

I'm a low user but worked out over the year I use £21 for electric and £9 for gas per month. Like you, combi boiler and elec cooking.

Or put another way. I use 250 units electric and 48 units of gas per month.
    Is that any help?
    Regards

I've got a sheet of paper in a folder where I keep all my bills, in which I write down each meter reading for all three utilities (am metered for water). I started it at the beginning of February 2004 and add to it every 10 weeks or so.

I then forward the readings online.

It acts as an instant guide to usage and also comes in handy if a dispute arises.

    Update.

I let the direct debit go through for the 1st Nov and, as I'm switching and in credit, I've cancelled it and informed PG. Previous two emails have taken 5 days and 6 days to get answered. This one took 40 minutes. Hmmm.

My account has already been updated (previous alterations took a month) and I'm waiting to see if my tarif has gone up.
    Regards
