Capped Tariff Is £117 More - Do I switch?
Options
I'm with Scottish Power and currently and pay about £60 per month on there On-line Energy Saver 2 Account.
I have done a price comparison and I could switch to Southern Electric for a fixed tarrif but it would cost me an Extra £117 per year ( at current prices)
Should I still do it?
Thanks and sorry if this has been answered already

I'm sure southern electrics deal isn't a fixed/capped tarrif, its simply 2 or 3% below their standard rate for the length of the contract. Therefore the prices will likely rise soon and maybe again numerous times before the contract finishes.
So its not very good at all and should be avoided.0 -
I have had the same come up when i search.
I am staying with mine (Atlantic) as if i switch it says i'll be saving -25% and i dont think Atlantic's prices will go up more than that really (i hope lol) and like other have said they'll all even out in the end, its a loose loose situation0 -
Oh for me -25% = -£1800

scottish power fixed price 2009 is more expensive, but rumour has it that they will put up prices next week...........
for manweb area economy 7 electric prices are:
day 11.189
night 4.241
s/c 16.95 plus £3 a month for capping, but for me it's by far the cheapest!Money burns a hole in my pocket, but I'm trying to be good!!:grouphug: :A

That southern electric tariff is NOT a fixed rate tariff, its a misleading title.
Its the amount of discount thats fixed meaning it will be 2% lower than the standard rate. That means if the standard rate goes up by 40% then yours would likely go up by 38%
There is also a cancelation fee, presumable to screw a bit more money out of the people that are duped onto this tariff thinking its fixed then want to move when their prices go up. I would avoid this at all costs personally as I think its a blatant attempt by SE to cash in on people wanting to fix.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0
