i have used gc service centre on the ballyclare road just up the road from northcott shopping centre on the left hand side (if you're going away from glengormley). Not had any problems and they seem ok in price but honest enough. Their phone number is 90848884.0

Hi, this might be on the wrong side of Belfast for you, but my husband has been getting the car serviced at Creightons in Finaghy for a few years. He's always been really pleased with the work and thinks their prices are fair.

Eddy Cowan in Carrickfergus, easy to pay and hard to fault. In the phone book probably listed as E&J Cowan.:beer:0

this one I would not recommend to anyone, I have had a lot of problems with these guys not so long ago. They replaced my water pump for around 200 pounds which worked for about 100 miles, then decided there is a problem with power steering pump and wanted this one replaced (around 500 quid for a new one). I went to another garage, paid 40 pounds for the repairs and it works perfectly now. They either have no clue what they are doing or are simply dishonest.0 -

Colleague in work used them recently just before her car was due its MOT. She made the mistake of telling them to do anything that was needed and ended up with a bill for £1300, which was probably 50% of what the car was actually worth.

Sorry to bump this thread after a year and a half but I also have had a bad experience with GM Autohouse on the Ravenhill Road and I would never use them again.
My car was recovered to them because of a snapped alternator belt. I know about cars but haven't the time nor detailed expertise to work on them.
They spent 5 mins opening the bonnet and peering down at where the belt should be. They then made 3-4 phone calls to price an alternator belt, powersteering belt and tensioner. I was told £20 fitted for the alternator belt, £15 for the power steering belt and £146 for the tensioner! Adding VAT that came to a massive £220 for a fanbelt! They said the tensioner was worn and rusty. I could see no rust. I started getting nervous about them and tried to back out saying the car was old and wasn't worth paying that. When the "boss" realised I wasn't going to give them what they wanted he started getting quite aggressive, shouted at me and ordered me to pay £23 (£20 plus VAT) for their investigation(?). I wasn't allowed to take the car away (it started thankfully) until I had paid out.
I eventually got it fixed with my usual mechanic for £25. It needed both belts but the tensioner was fine. By the way a new tensioner is £30 plus VAT.
Hope this helps!0 -
