Today I started getting messages about my computer being at risk etc, so I checked out the stickys at the top of this forum, but when I try to download the programmes I keep getting a screen saying navigation stopped as I am browsing an at risk site?
Can anyone help me with advice?
Many thanks

Which programs, specifically?0

Give this a go:
Malware Bytes
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
- If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Acan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Hi I have tried these:
CWShredder http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.exe
Ad-Aware SE Personal http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
SpyBot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
IESpyAd2 https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm
MS AntiSpy http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/index.html
and also tried
Before you start make sure you are at least up to date with Windows XP Service Pack 1a by going here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx
and choosing
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...1/express.mspx
1)Trial version of Superantispyware here.
i've copied updated intructions for SuperAntiSpyware from here
http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...hread.id=81483- Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
- An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
- If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/...e_personal.php
Install, click Check for Updates now and get any updates, then exit
3)Crap Cleaner from
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
Install only making sure to untick the box for installing the Yahoo toolbar, then exit
4) Microsoft Windows Defender (this can only be used with Windows 2000/XP/2003) (was known as Microsoft AntiSpyware)
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
Install it and update it
5)Spybot Search and Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org
but when I try to download, I get
Reported insecure browsing: navigation blocked which stops any downloads
Any idea on what is causing this?

download malwarebytes ,ignore the false "at risk" message that the infection is flashing up (it does not want you to remove it
)
if it has blocked you from downloading at all then get someone to download it for you and burn to a CD or if you use MSN I can send you the file direct over that (PM me your msn address )Ex forum ambassador

Thank you!
Ive downloaded the Malwarebytes and rebooted and (fingers crossed/touch wood) all appears to be dandy!
How often should I manually run Malwarebytes?
Cheers:wave: Fit Likeee!:j0 -
It regularly updates, I run it at least once a week along with other protective software.0
