Using Google for free instead of eBay

Looks like eBay might have to start being a bit fairer with their fees. Check out this article

Might be a year or two off but Google seem keen on taking on the big, big boys, eBay & Microsoft. About time these had more competition. We will have to see how it develops. I certainly like the idea of selling items for free to a potentially bigger audience.

I can't wait for this to happen, eBay and it's daughter Paypal are just bi*****!
They can command any price they want because of the lack of true competition but at least Google which its huge userbase will be able to compete with eBay and hopefully knock them of their pedestal.
Edit: breathe... breathe...0 -
BTW It will eb at http://base.google.com which is sometimes online for you to play around with!

Google's response to the speculation:

pretty vague0 -
Yeah very vague, everyone has their own opinion as to what it is.
I think an auction site will spawn from this, perhaps not directly from eBay but other sites using Google Base' submission facility.... oh heck, who knows!0 -
Google can easily wipe the floor if they went up against ebay but i guess they going to start by just offering a site to place details of what you got to sell or advertise without carrying out or monitoring any transactions.0
