Credit limit on Sainsbury card

After using this card for over 8 years, I've just had my credit limit cut by nearly 75%. This was without warning and the information took 5 days to reach me. I am sure that this is more to do with HBOS's credit rating than mine! (Judging from the correspondence address, I'm sure it's HBOS that runs Sainsbury's Bank.) I've emailed the CEO of Sainsbury's at [EMAIL="justin.king@sainsburys.co.uk"]justin.king@sainsburys.co.uk[/EMAIL] to point out the damage that HBOS is doing to his brand. I'd encourage anyone else who has suffered in the same way to do the same.

They're entitled to reduce the limit as & when they see fit. Having credit with a company isn't a right, but they would probably review each accounts credit score every month & adjust as they see fit.

Have a look at this post I made for someone in a similar situation with Barclaycard.

Substitute Barclaycard and Barclays for HBOS and you get an explanation of why they've done this.

Sainsbury's Finance (formerly known as Sainsbury's Bank) is jointly owned by Sainsburys & Bank of Scotland. It is run by B.O.S. from their headquarters in Edinburgh. Remember, HBOS is just the parent company, Halifax have nothing to do with Sainsburys Finance.
