Big capacity washing machine query

I need a new washing machine and I am looking at a big capacity one (6kg+). My thinking is that if I get a really good efficiency one (A+), I will be doing the washing less often (with a bigger load) and it will cost me less than using my current B rated machine (the quickest cycle taking 90 minutes). I have been told though that the bigger capacity machines do not clean the clothes as well as the standard size ones. Can anyone confirm that from their experience? And also, will the saving on electricity and water be noticeable? Many thanks

You do have to add extra washing powder ( i use 3 tablets in my large capacity washer, whereas I only used 2 in the old machine) and the wash result is fine. The savings come from not doing as many loads... I can have the family's weekly wash done in no time at all.0

i have an 8kg washing machine, i only add half the recommended amount of wash powder and my wash comes out nice and clean. I now do a lot less loads than before, whipping through my families wash. I only wish my clothes line could hold as large a load as my machine :rolleyes:0

Check the wash performance rating, should be A, it is tested under artificial conditions but should give a rough idea of how good the wash is. Also choose one with rinse performance A.
With any washing machine stuffing the drum full will not give best results, there needs to be some space for the clothes to move, putting a 5kg load in a 8kg machine should give better results than in a 5kg machine.
I have an 8kg LG machine, it has a recirculation spray to penetrate into the load and gives good washing results. I have not paid any attention to the water and electricity use, should not be much difference to a smaller machine, but will be less if you use it less often. I do not often fill it full but it is useful to have the large capacity for cleaning duvets etc.0 -
My newish (Hoover 8kg load) machine does a good job BUT some of the programmes seem very long. Since I have economy 7 electricity and there's a time delay setting on the machine I run it overnight so have a load to peg out first thing.
Am please with the results though, and use same amount of detergent I did before.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I bought a second hand Dyson in white with no daft colours. I paid £230 which may seem high but I would not be without it.
It was designed and built to be one of the best machines for everyday use. The only thing I'm not happy about is fabric softerner is washed away, probably why it's one of the best washers for allergies.
Don't be put off by buying second hand, for £65 Dyson do a fixed price repaire and service inlcuding ALL PARTS AND LABOUR.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0
