Energy Saving Light Bulbs

We want to buy a few of these to help save a bit on the electric bill. Who uses them and what brand do you buy? How expensive are they?

The ones made by Philips work well but they do come with different expected life e.g. 6, 8 or 12 years use. Morrisons often have them very cheap. They generally consume less than 20% of the electricity when compared to a standard filament bulb. e.g. 18W equivalent to 100W.

When you buy them, most of them have a guarantee for so many years. Write the date of installation in a marker pen somewhere on the bulb so that if it doesn't last as long as they promised, you can apply for a refund. (Provided you kept the receipt of course !!)
