Help!!! Npower refusing to uphold their fixed price now that I've switched!!
Options
I recently switched suppliers for my gas and electric from British Gas to Npower using energyhelpline (started process on 30th May). Although both services have now switched, Npower are refusing to uphold the fixed price tariff for gas as they say British Gas held up the transfer and their offer has since expired. They will offer me their standard rate only. I have a contract from them stating I was signing up for the fixed rate for gas and elec, but they say there is nothing they can do.
In the meantime, as I am sure you are aware, most fixed rate tariffs are no longer available, and I feel I have very few options. I am clearly very disappointed and feel that Npower are being extremely unreasonable, I just feel totally conned.
Can anyone advise what I should do next? (other than cry!):(
Thanks

On their literature there should be a complaints process.
Follow it to the letter first. Give them chance to put it right, don't go in with all guns blazing, but be nice to their complaints people.
Then if you've exhausted their process, take it to OFGEM.
I've found that once you start the complaints process, people with common sense are more evident and will try and resolve the situation, other than those in call centres following the script!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
What a surprise - nPower screwing over it's customers. I got screwed over a few times when I was with them before switching to BG (I did it the other way to you).
The only reason that BG may have held up an application to move you over is if you had large outstanding debt on the account (which you must not have done as the transfer would not have gone through at all if you did) OR if nPower delayed giving them your opening reading (which BG would have used as a final reading so they could bill you accurately).
Are there ANY fixed priced tariffs left with nPower?0
