I took this out around 2.5 years ago when they were doing GBP100 cash-back when you took out a mortgage.

I'm staff so it only costs GBP6GBP a month so the first year I was GBP28 in credit! I've been abroad a few times so the insurance has helped there as well as the free cash withdrawals.

Not used any of the leisure offers but another 'perk' you get is an English call centre 'welcome to plus service...how can I help'.

I wish I would get greeted with 'Welcome to Plus service'-I think I have when I've rang late at night once-lol!

24hr call centre is a godsend!! Happy days!!
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!

I have never seen a "packaged" account where the benefits are worth the monthly fee
I've found one - Lloyds TSB's premier joint account.

£25 a month (but I'm paying £15 for some reason that I'm not quite sure of), for benefits for BOTH joint account holders.

*AA cover with Roadside, Home Start, Relay, and Stay Mobile - Joint cover normally £15.15 per month - used this 3 times in the last 12 months!
*Home emergency cover (Homeserve) - normally £8.25 a month - used once this year when toilet overflowed.
*Mobile phone insurance for two phones - normally £6 a phone each per month (so £12).
*Worldwide travel insurance - been away once in last 12 months, wouldve cost about £15 for that else.
*Plus a load of other "benefits" that are of no use to me.

I'd say that's a pretty good deal, personally. Obviously, your mileage may vary though :D

You can get pretty much the same from natwest for £12.95 per month www.natwest.com/adgold

    ... or Halifax for £12.50 http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/ultimatereward.asp

They all have fairly similar paid-for accounts, which are worth it for some, but not for others.

Had to phone the HSBC to get a settlement figure on my loan yesterday. Had my current account for 20 years with them and the guy wanted to know why I hadn't upgraded to HSBC plus ? Not worth it imo.

    Roadside assistance - I don't drive
Life insurance - I have this jointly with husband anyway
Travel insurance - I haven't travelled abroad since 2001 and can't see it in the foreseeable future.
Identity theft cover - I though your bank would cover in the (hopefully unlikely) event of this happening.
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.09
