Options
Hi

Does anyone know how to join AVI Files together.

If so, what software can be used to do this and how easy is it to use?

Thank you

Assuming you're running windows XP or later, it comes with 'Windows Movie Maker'. It'll be hidden somewhere in 'all programs' either on its own, or maybe under applications. Anyway, you should be able to join them easily with that.
When you're finished, you have to go file>export as movie, or something like that. You can't just save it, that makes a project file, or something silly like that.

virtualdub is free software for avi editing but can be fiddly. Simpler software can be found at places like afterdawn.com and doom9.org

    ...or a 5 second google found http://www.doeasier.org/joiner/

the only issue with joining avis is that they need to be technically identical (framerates, codec, etc.)
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

I split and join AVI and MPEG files without problem...

Spam. This user only posts about one piece of software, and so should probably be ignored.

I use virtualdub. Little fiddly to begin with but I did a few that I took on camera on holiday and once youve done a couple its straightforward. Window Maker Maker can do it but the resukting files are huge

Use this its free just google it vdub-mp3-freeze. All you do is click on FILE then where it says Open Video Title click on that. find the 1st part of the AVI file then click on Video then where it says Direct Stream Copy click on that.

Then click on FILE again. where it says Append Video Segment click on this, then click on the 2nd AVI file.

All you do then is click on FILE again then just click on save AVI it will take a few minutes to join the two AVI files together then its done.

    Hope this helps.

if you plan to burn this to dvd i would also say check out Cucusoft this will convert to dvd and merge AVI files or split files too and can convert to Mpeg.
Maybe not the best but i never have any issues with this and have used it for some while now.
Google it and i am sure you wil find it.

    Good luck

seddsmt you will not find anything easier to use than vdub-mp3-freeze then when its joined together you can use Convert2dvd or Nero.
