and due to the terrible problems with tickets this year its a good idea to keep an eye on the above website. Our tickets were supposed to have been sent out but not arrived so have phoned the venue and will need to pick up there this evening.
Please give us a short review on any shows you go to see, especially if they are worth seeing

Only The Brave
What can I say, the show was extremely thought provoking, superb acting from the whole cast, the singing was great and if this show doesn't get a run somewhere after the Fringe then it will be a great shame.
As it featured Edinburgh's own Keith Jack my tendency was to be watching him and to some extent Niamh but you quickly realise that the real stars are indeed Gerald Bental and Cassidy Janson but the whole cast really were good throughout and you could feel their pain just by their faces.
Although set in the Second World War I found myself thinking that it really is still the same for our young soldiers no matter where in the world they are fighting now and because of this I found it very emotional and came out totally choked. So if you are looking for light entertainment then this isn't for you but if you want a good show and extrememly well acted then don't miss it.
And well done to Steve Marmion, the director, who introduced the show and as it was the very first performance told us to expect it to be a bit lumpy, it wasn't and I do hope it does well for you all.

A point about the Fringe ticket fiasco. Our tickets for last night were supposed to have been sent out due to the fact they weren't available for collection on the days given on the confirmation after ordering on the web.
Phoned the venue to check yesterday morning and they said if we couldn't pick up at the Fringe box office, like we were going to spend another few hours there!, we could pick them up at the venue and to arrive early.
We did this and the venue had a list provided by the main box office of all people who had booked tickets so we were ticked off the list and given tickets. Not ideal but the venue staff were very helpful and friendly and signs were up outside the venue telling you to go to the box office to pick up your tickets. Sadly it was felt that it affected the audience figures for last night and I hope by the time the Fringe gets well under way that the problems are sorted out.0 -
Tonight going to see Ane Wee Touch O' Class by the late, great Rikki Fulton.

and I'd like to wish all the cast and company of Only The Brave the best of luck for tonight's opening show, break a leg!0 -

Thanks for your review! I'm going to see Only the Brave tonight! Looking forward to it.....0 -
I'm sure you will enjoy it, we certainly did.
Tonight I'm off to see Roy Walker, Goodbye Mr Chips followed by something musical at St George's West at Shandwick Place.
Ane Wee Touch O' Class was well acted but slightly too long for my liking. The lead actor was good and of course some of the Rikki Fulton lines were classic. It was on in St Serf's church hall at Trinity and refreshments were served in the break and they have a great selection of second hand books for 50p each or 3 for £1, bargain and good condition!0 -
Roy Walker - Goodbye Mr Chips, Assembly Rooms at 6.00 pm
Full house I'd say and probably not necessarily because it was 2 for 1 and a very good show. A true gentleman with superb timing and a lovely manner. Between jokes he looked back over his life generally in a funny way with no references to his sadness of leaving Belfast and the death of his wife as mentioned in this article from Scotland on Sunday. T-shirts were given away for answering some Catchphrase questions and he brought up some audience members to play Carpark Catchphrase from the Chris Moyles breakfast show and finished with the very funny Naughty, Naughty Mr Chips as linked to in Martin's thread here.
Catchphrase was a feel good Saturday night show and so is Goodbye Mr Chips, highly recommend.0 -
to anyone who heard them yesterday at the fringe on sunday .....
..... the sound was really crap and did not do the performance any justice.
it's WAY better at the venue.
the only minus is that I think it's expensive ticket (£18/£15)
Been wanting to see them for the last 5 years, when they were at the other venue, and cheaper ticket, but never got round to it - so I was happy to finally see that.0 -
Saw Mark Watson at the Pleasance Grand on Friday night/
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!:j :j :j0
