So i booked a flight next month from Birmingham Alabama to Sacramento California and was due to change in Denver but arrive at Sacramento at 12.49.
I just logged into the United manage my booking thing and it says:
A schedule change has occurred on your itinerary. If you booked via a travel agent or other website please contact them to verify the schedule change. If you booked through United reservations or on united.com please contact 1-800-UNITED-1.
After phoning them i find out that now im leaving BHM at 0749 (an hour earlier) changing planes in Chicago and the Denver and ultimately arriving at Sacramento at 1700, so what was originally a 4 hr flight is now 9. (none of this was communicated to me by email or otherwise)
So, i say ill cancel and simply rebook with Southwest. Get this, my ticket is non refundable. I explained that indeed i had a schedule and i paid for the said schedule, they changed it which now ruins things for me and i cannot cancel.
So a tip, if you're looking for an internal US flight be aware with United.

Get back on the phone to them.
I see no reason (for August departures) why this schedule change has happened. There are at least 3 (4 during the week) single connection flights for the routes (unless they havn't yet loaded their schedule changes / cancellations).
Get a member of their res team to book you on one the below:

What a joke, she tried charging me a $25 fee to change the flight!!!

So much better. (and the fee was waived)
Thank you.0 -
so united are not con artists, and just a little bit of miscommunication..
*shrugs*0 -
When American airlines have to change your plans they'll do it in the way that suits THEM the best - ie the cheapest - rather than the way that suits YOU.
So you have to get on the phone to them and get better arrangements0 -
not much time to post as away at moment.
ah the vagaries of US legacy carriers....it's amazing how many times i've had situations where they have been totally in the wrong (not even any ambiguity) and then they've tried their best to treat me like some total dimwit.
even when you show them something in black and white that they've produced they still argue the t*ss.
i try to steer clear from making recommendations on here now for people looking for internal flights.
sturll what happened to you is oh so common....and of course this adds to the problems of overbooking which imho is likely to get far worse.
go on flyertalk and see the pain that even their elite customers experience0
