in Credit cards
I moved into a new rented property in April and I'm wanting to apply for a new balance transfer credit card.
My only concern, as my credit rating is good, is that the people who rented the house before me has defaulted debt, and lots of it. I regularly get phone calls from debt collecotors and have had a couple of house calls and I'm concerned this will affect me.
Does anyone know if it will etc? If so how do i rectify it as I shoudlnt be penalised for someone who I dont knows money incompetence.
Thanks

There shouldn't be any financial connection made between you and the previous tennant(s) so you should be fine.0

I agree, unless you are unfortunate enough to have the same name or the same date of birth as these people, there shouldn't be a problem! You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

I am not sure if debt collectors check the electoral role but making sure you are on the electoral role might help too.
There's been a couple of times in the past I've moved in the same council area and my electoral role details have not been passed on by the council tax office. Though the last time I moved the council provided the electoral role form as well.0 -

Even having the same date of birth as a former occupant would make no difference.
Credit ratings assess people, not dwellings. If you share a financial product with someone else (eg. joint bank a/c) then you are financially linked to them and so their poor management of their own affairs could have a knock-on effect on your own finances and your credit rating, but simply occupying the same house as someone of the same age with a poor credit history, past or present, has no effect whatsoever
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
