Looking into buying a new sewing machine. I know very little about them as i've been using one thats pretty much an antique! Ideally would like to be more creative, so the more features the better - however budget is about £100. Quite liked the look of the brother XL3600 lightweight http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4600080/Trail/searchtext%3ESEWING+MACHINE.htm, as its gone down to £79 at Tescos.
Has anyone got this machine? Or can you reccommend a good un at a fairly cheap price!
Thanks:D

Both me and my mum have the 21DES and it's a great machine, does everything I need except make a cuppa.
Where have you seen it? we got outs from sewing machine discount (Coopers) online i think £109 with scissors, carry case and 10years free servicing included in price. I think they are still doing the same offer at the moment and it does say on their website order by phone today for an extra discount?
Hope that this helps you with your selection.0 -

You inspired me to look at the Coopers website today and I've just bought the Toyota EM45HC for £85! The RRP is £349 so I'm pretty pleased with my bargain.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

You need to watch if you get too light a machine as it moves if you sew heavy fabric. Have used Coopers also and found them to be good. jANOME0

Can't wait for it to arrive...so many projects to start & hopefully finish! Can anyone reccomend websites that have step-by-step guides? I generally wing it when making things in the past, but fancy doing this properly now!November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. My machine is a Janome and it is my third from them. I have never had any trouble just upgraded. Looked on Coopers web site and they seem to have good deals on Janome one that I thought looked good was the Janome JR1012 . It is not a good idea to get a small or lightweight machine as they move if you sew any heavier fabrics.0
