I am with greenflag on their cheapo recover me policy.

It was only about £20 for the year I think and well worth it. Last weekend I had coil go while on holiday camping in north yorks. It was a Sunday afternoon, middle of nowhere and on a country road.

The recovery vehicle was with me in 30 mins from the call and got me back to the campsite. They offered to revisit the day after to do the repair (obviosuly I would have to pay for the parts and labour), however, I sorted it myself from there.

The service was spot on. I've not used any others so can't advise elsewhere.

    Hiya

I'm new to the forum so here goes, I found some cheap uk break down cover from a company called IC Breakdown Assistance & Recovery, they cover vehicles from cars to mini buses, there bronze level cover includes roadside assistance, Recovery service, Caravan and trailer service & message service prices start from £29.00, the same AA cover is £72.00 a saving of 59%.

    Have a look????? http://www.insurancechoice.co.uk/

I have been with europ assistance a couple of years, I believe it is europ - it is your local call out recovery service. You call the breakdown centre and they pass details to the breakdown team in your area. It is £65 a year with Endsleigh (GOLD), inc 2 days europe cover I think. They arrive within the hour.

  • I've been a member of GEM and found them - sorry for pun - a Jewel !! My dad was a member for - wait for it 20/30/or even 40 odd years and always swore by `em. They use local services - always a good idea and they don't even moan when I managed to leave my lights on and flattened the battery. Bless. !!
  • I am also looking for cover and had a look at Europ. However I was put off by the small print. I wanted cover to get me back home in event of breakdown but it seems that in event of breakdown they will take it to a garage (nearest) and spend a day (presumably at my expense) trying to repair before offering to recover to home. Am I getting this right or can you opt straight away to be recovered to home?

You can opt to be taken home on my policy, no garage .. as long as you 1 mile or something like that away from your home
