not quite sure what you're asking!!
all transactions will be chip and pin from 15/02/2006. the only time after then when a signiture will be accepted will be if an existing card nas not been upgraded to chip, or the retailer has not been set up to accept chip cards. however, these days the industry has worked extremely hard to upgrade alll cards and terminals in shops!!!0 -

Hi all banks etc DO HAVE combined chip & signature cards available, however the banks only prefer to give these to people who have a real need. They can also provide the user with a letter which can be shown to any retailer along with card as verification that this is acceptable.
If you ask your bank the staff might not be aware of it, make sure they check there procedures before fobbing you off!Compo challange:Amount won £0 Need to win £2400 -
Dangerous, Thanks for your reply.
As it stands just now one has to apply for a card, be accepted and then a Chip and PIN card is sent automatically to the applicant (even if the cardholder can't manage or has issues with a PIN). Then and only then can the applicant request a Chip & Signature card which means the time taken from application to delivery of the required card (Chip and Signature) takes a lot longer causing confusion and distress for the applicant. Card issuers have extra costs, issuing the initial card and PIN which is of no use to the cardholder and having to deal with extra mail and or telephone calls
Ronnie thanks.
Yep my experience too - banks staff in general know little of chip & sig cards, give misleading or downright wrong information.
I am asking if anyone knows of a card issuer who has an application form (as a new customer) that facilitates the option for the applicant to request a Chip & Signature Card.0
