So I saw stuff on here today about quidco, and thought "hmmm, seems like a good idea, I'll give it a go"
Was planning to switch utility companies anyway, and maybe try a couple of other purchases.
Registered with quidco, tried to click thru to a vendor, and get a huge load of guff about how they can't track my purchases unless I allow cookies, allow pop-ups, disable my firewall etc. etc.
Now we run a small business, IT a\nd accountancy support for small businesses. I HAVE TO keep my PC secured. I link up to clients' kit, and I hold clients data.
So can I not use quidco, because I need PC security?

I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Not necessarily, but you will certainly need to allow cookies, popups and referrers to be given - so it is a case of tweaking the security settings. If you are worried about security, then why not just surf the web on another computer that does not hold clients' data?0

I had the same issue using IE6 today and never had it before.
I fired up firefox and it was OK with that.0 -
You don't say which browser you have, but if it's IE, you shouldn't need to reduce your overall security.
Just double-click on the Internet Zone globe in the bottom right-hand corner in IE, click the Trusted Sites green symbol, then Sites... and add Quidco's website address - if you just add quidco.com it will trust all websites ending with those characters.
You will probably need to untick the box that requires HTTPS:
You can achieve the same effect in Firefox - for example with Exceptions in Noscript and within the Preferences tab.0 -
Hmm Okay.
I didn't have time to play with it yesterday, might have time later. I had added quidco to my list of trusted sites, but I still got the message.
So my hardware firewall won't create a problem then?
What bothered me is that the page I got said there may be a problem with tracking purchases, not that there is a problem.
I don't want to faff about using quidco and then find I haven't earned anything.
Oh and username, "why not just surf the web on another computer that does not hold clients' data". Well you know I tend to use one computer on my desk, I don't have a pool of them to choose from.
Those we do have all tend to pretty well secured, because they are all on the network.
Anyway, I'll try playing with it later.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0
