Book but don't stay

New to the forum but looking for advice on the following.
Have been reading the article on cheap flights especially the bit about booking packages but not staying in the accomodation. I just wondered if lots of people had done this and if you have to let the reps know your plans when you arrive?

Well you don't HAVE to but it is helpful to the rest of their customers who will otherwise be held up for half an hour or so while the reps search in vain for you.

And there is a probably remote chance that your return flight could get cancelled - maybe not as you've flown out but it's conceivable.

It would also be useful if they need to contact you if your return flight is delayed - or worse, rescheduled earlier...
