I agree i hope its sooner too but as this is a global problem and we are all fighting for the same grain and fuel i dont see how things are going to get better. Poor global economy, enviromental problems, wars, i mean when is it going to end? We are such a small country as well how much international clout do we still have?
Quite agree, yes for such a small country we have international clout by the shed load - why?, someone tell me ?

I'm not sure about the recession bit yet, I've stopped listening to the news, I am sick to death of hearing of increases in commodities etc, but one thing for sure, food, fuel, gas and electricity are never going to be as cheap again, its only going one way in the long term time and its up. I remember watching Questiontime a few weeks ago and Lord Paddy Ashdown said "we have seen the end of cheap food etc etc".
We all can do something to plan ahead though for the increases in our monthly expenditure: Get rid of the luxuries, by that I mean, the mobile phone (Do you really need it?), Sky TV (only rubbish), transfer debt balances onto lower apr cards as soon as possible, visit the old style board for tips on cutting back if things get tougher, carboot clutter (don't Ebay, it cost too much and everyone else is struggling and trying to sell there stuff and its rarely a bargain with the insertion fees and Paypal fees), meal plan, use Quidco to find cheap house/building insurance etc.

Yep, totally agree with you, you've just reminded me I have to switch my telephone provider before 1st August so thanks for that, I have a monthly telephone bill of £55    , £18 for broadband, £8 for 'gas' unlimited, well I've got kids!, and I think £11 for line rental - going over to TalkTalk/Tiscali for £20 per month for everything (gotta be good), and if I do it before then I get £100 cashback from Quidco to boot xx
