Minimum wear layer to consider on vinyl flooring?

I've been looking for ages for vinyl for my kitchen. I want good quality stuff and I know the wear layer is more important than the thickness as a whole.
I cant find just the right colour/style in the 'right' ranges so I either consider a lesser spec vinyl with the right shade or change my plans completely.
I've been mainly looking at Rhinofloor/Forbo Nairn - Aquagrip/ Tarkett
I started off wanting not less than 3mm wear layer and a 15 - 20 yr warranty but I just cant get the right thing.
So....do I down the spec to a 2mm or 2.5mm wear layer and 10 -15 yr warranty. Or stay above that size of wear layer and change my colours?
I have a reasonably active (think hashy! ) family, with kids running in and out all day, muddy shoes in winter etc etc. I need the floor to be able to take a fair bit. I'm also not one for making regular changes, I find something I like then stick with it.
I'm not sure what's classed as ok and what's not re: the wear layer size. Be glad of some thoughts?
