Anyone know a brand of free-range chicken manure?

I like the idea of chicken manure pellets but can't find any with info on the tub about the source. I will not buy chicken meat or eggs that support the battery farming industry and wonder if anyone markets chicken manure pellets from free range flocks?

We have our own source of manure with the animals at home but those dry pellets seem a lot more user friendly, if only the source is right.

I've got to be honest, I just assumed that because the chickens were free-range they'd just poop wherever and it wouldn't be easily collected! But to get organic standard the poultry has to be free-range, so I would assume that all organic chicken-manure pellets are from free-range chickens. But I would check the label and if necessary call the manufacturer just to be sure.

Most stuff sold is probably from battery farmed chickens.

Rooster is organic soil association certified (also Greenvale by Rooster), but I believe they no longer sell direct. Try Tamar Organics or the Organic Gardening catalogue. :)

I couldn't find any on the organic gardening website but I know it's in the paper catalogues... maybe its out of stock or something. Westland do 'organic' ones too but couldn't tell you the provenance.

The greenvale one available at the organic gardening catalgue is the one I use. This link to the manufacturer says it is from non battery chickens.

Indeed, companies that sell their products as 'organic' and are just telling you that chicken poo is made up from organic compounds, ought to be stopped. They are not Soil Association registered organic and as it doesn't say otherwise the Westland (and other brands) will almost certainly be from battery hens.

The 'blue links' in my first post should go to retailers who sell Rooster/Greenvale. :)
