Need help with internet security please?

Options
Hi I recently renewed my internet securty subscription and the one I bought can be used on 1-3 computers. How do I get it on to my sons laptop. I have the key number but don't know how to actually get it on. Is there a welcome screen or something to enter the number. Mine was done as a 'validate this subscription' thing. Any help would be grateful. They do already have the same internet security but want to put same one as mine so that they run out at same time and I can get a 1-3 user onee again.

I'm assuming yours was pre-installed when you bought the pc, and you weren't given a cd of it. Go to the company website and download the same software as a trial version, then after installing there will be a 'buy' or 'register' option - put your code in there.
When the product runs out next year, get a free alternative :)

  • No it wasn't pre-installed. I actually purchased it when went on internet, but the CD I have is 2006 and obviously the version I have now from downloading update is 2008. Would going onto link from original e-mail work do you think, if I did it on the laptop?

the security program will have a built-in 'update' feature, which should automatically connect to the software company servers and check for latest update downloads, then download and install them automatically too

Without knowing what the software is, it's hard to advise on how to register the product as different companies use different methods. Usually, software that you buy at, say, version 5.0 will continue to accept the same licence number through updates like 5.1, 5.2, 5.999 recurring, and then the software companies will charge you for a brand new install when they hit version 6.0
