Has my laptop got a virus?

At work today I received an email from my home/personal email account which I thought was a tad odd! When I got home my Outlook contacts have been deleted also on Messenger. I have McAfee security and did a virus scan but it hasn't picked anything up. Does anyone know whats wrong? Is it a virus? Replies in lay speak please as Im not an IT wizard (which I think you may have already gathered!!).

uuummmmm ok that does seem odd have you done a system restore yet? If you have windows XP go to start,programs,accessories then system tools and click on system restore you should be able to get your data back. Make sure you backup docs or work you have done today.0
