scottish power fixed rate-is it worth the hype? rates here

Hello all-
Here are the scottish power fixed rates which I signed up for-
Electricity; 25p per day standing charge, then 9.475p/kwh
Gas; 23.66pence then 2.695p/kwh
are these prices really worth fixing for a year. With a cancellation charge of 50 pounds?
I believe they don't come down if prices drop. I am an ebico customer u see
