Made a claim with Axa? If so, 'easy' question..!

Hello
I wonder if anybody can help me. Today I was parked in the supermarket car park and when I got back to my car, found that somebody had driven into the back of it. The car was still there, the man came back, admitted liability and gave me his insurance details, so far, so simple...
I've now been on the phone for an hour trying to get through to the right person at his insurer, Axa, to make the claim. I keep speaking to Axa people, but every number I get given turns out to be the wrong one. I assume this is an insurance company delaying tactic, but I was just wondering whether anybody has made a motor claim with Axa and knows which number to phone. Thank you very much in advance if so! (some of the confusion has been that the newer policies seem to be Swiftcover, but they've confirmed that it's definitely not them and is Axa directly).
Incidentally, in the useful websites sticky above, there's a helpful list of phone numbers too. Unfortunately the Axa one turns out to be RAC - couldn't mention this above as the thread's closed. It is *so* not my day...:(

I think it's more poor management rather than a 'delaying tactic' - I once had to spend 45 minutes waiting for them to answer the phone.0

Hi ... I can only guess at this - but if the accident only happened today, it may be that Axa are waiting to hear from their Insured in sufficient detail to then deal with getting you sorted.
I am assuming the "details" he gave you included the policy/insurance certificate number with Axa - and if that was the case, they should be able to track it down immediately - that should get you thru' to the right phone number.
I know that is not me giving you a tel/number as such - but the number you want to get the claim sorted is the one Axa allocate for a claim on that specific policy.
Hope this helps - maybe not a lot I know, sorry. If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

AXA underwrite a LOT of policies, so even though you call a number dosent mean its the right one. Plus DPA regs might mean they refuse to discuss anything apart from with their insured....0

One of my favourite sayings of the moment:
You have to hold car insurance to drive on the road, but you don't have to use it.
This means that Axa's hands are tied until they hear from their customer; until he makes a claim with them, they cannot help you.
I was involved in an accident where a third party reversed into my car. The very kind off duty police officer came to my aid when the little.... so and so... didn't want to give me any of his details. As it is, he never reported the accident to his insurers and my insurers had to get a County Court Judgement against him before his insurers would pay them back for the outlay.
On the other end of the scale, I hit a friends car and my insurers were in touch with her straight away to arrange everything!!
Give it a couple of days and if you still have no luck, speak to your own insurers and use the legal expenses cover if you have it.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
Ringing them is likely to be a waste of time anyway, as they won't accept liability on your say so.
Why not get an estimate for the repairs and post it to them, telling them you hold their insured liable, and ask that they confirm they will pay all the costs involved as a result of the incident, including the cost of a hire car whilst yours is being repaired.
Ask if they wish to inspect the car before it is repaired.
Some insurance companies will take over the repair to injured party's cars, but be prepared for them simply agreeing to reimburse you on production of the receipts after the job has been done.
If you don't want to do this, then consider claiming on your own insurance, (if you have comprehensive), which will mean you only having to chase the third party for your excess.0 -

I'm not sure I totally agree with this because they will log the call and also try to contact their policyholder to obtain his version of events, which could speed things up if the other party is dragging his heels on it.0 -
Oh My God!!
I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulties trying to get hold of axa. I had exactly the same problem with trying to get put through to the right department.
They are so un-organized it`s untrue!!!
I had to be in contact with them constantly over outstanding holiday insurance bills not being paid out.
I was on the phone every single day to them on one occasion for 3HOURS!!!!
It took them almost 3 months to settle an outstanding bill from a hospital i was in whilst on holiday last october!!
If anyone is looking to buy travel insurance or any kind of insurance, i would strongly advise..... STEER CLEAR OF AXA!!!!!!!!
If you don`t your be heading for disaster!!!
I would never insure them them again!   :mad:0
