Hi everyone :cheesy:
I have been reading these forums for a good few months and the money saving ideas are great. As a student I find it very useful and there are some excellent tips on here.
Martin is an actual God:money:
Know, id like to make a suggestion, but before people go all negative and dispose of it straight away, please consider my idea, thankyou
. I think i can make it work and, most importantly, save us money!
If its a silly suggestion and the moderators do not agree than they can just go ahead and remove it, but i think its worth a shot.
So i have read all of the rules and I AM aware that pyramid schemes and Referals and the like are very much against the rules, and i can see why, at least one person loses out, and with pyramid schemes, for anyone who has tried, getting refferals ends up been more effort than its worth. Its often more cost effective to just go out, get a second job and earn the money to buy whatever it is your after.
BUT, with the big member base on this site, and the common interest in saving money, i think its possible that we could actually get any member on this site, a free gift, and save us all a few pennies.
I'm sure the mods have heard and seen all too much of these "free PS3, free Xbox, Free Laptop and Free TV" rubbish, and so have I. Refferals are a pain the backside.
So i propose a simple, moderated, conga line. I cant see any reason why it couldnt work.
And if members are trying to find a way to save money on a new laptop, how about a saving of 100%?
Ive researched these sites a lot and discovered that some of the offers wont cost anyone anything, so no-one loses out.
If Member X is top of the conga line, people can join under him, and add thier name to the conga line, once member X has enough referals and recieves his gift, he is removed and everyone in the line moves up a place. Or if the conga method seems a little unfair for the late comers, why not have a weekly draw to decide who has the top spot on the line?
I know this seems like a silly get rich idea, but i think with a little management and certousy between members i can see no reason why this cant be used to help us help eachother;).
Gratis Internet run a few of these sites and are the most legitimate out there. And with a " Lovefilm free 7 day trail" as one of the offers, its not going to cost anyone anything.
Thanks for your time and i hope this idea can be taken into consideration

Welcome to MSE. As you say they are against the rules but even more as Martin says here against the ethics of MSE so its very unlikely that your idea will be given any consideration I'm afraid. While you say it may not cost anyone anything what you are suggesting will cost MSE staff in time which is thinly stretched as it is in helping the many users save money.
Pyramid schemes, lottery based pyramid schemes, Ipod bidding schemes etc
The legality of these schemes is questionable, yet the ethics isn't. These schemes fly in the face of MoneySaving and whether illegal or not I don't want them on the site. Any scheme which offers a prize/reward/cash for you queuing up and referring other people is not permitted on this site and will be deleted. Repeated posters will have their posting priviledges removed.

Fair enough i guess. Without suggestions this site would never get anywhere;)
everyone keep suggesting and help the site grow! :T0 -
welcome to mse matty.
i'm afraid i agree with edinburghlass on this one, it would just stretch resources too far and i reckon it would be a complete nightmare to try and administer something like that fairly.
but, thanks for the idea. it's nice to see some new ideas and fresh thinking. i hope you'll participate more now and not go off lurking for another few months :beer:0
