Someone from Southern Electric......

....just knocked the door. I am always wary of these door to door people and most of them just ignore my sign telling them to stay away.

He was saying something about a government initiative on saving energy, but said he would send details in the post. Don't have a clue what he was talking about, not been told anything. I didn't sign anything, but you hear so many horror stories about people being switched over without their knowledge.

I am currently with EDF paying through Secure Homes (now Moneyway). We pay £27 a month for Gas and £55 a month for Electric and EDF review it every few months according to what we use.

Don't have a clue what tariff we're on. To be honest all this goes straight over my head and I don't really have time to shop around for the best deal.

Oh and forgot to say, these door to door people really freak me out when they have your name as well. Especially when it's a company you don't deal with.

Southern Electric are obviously doig the rounds, we had a lady from them on Monday. She had a clipboard with our name and address on it (which she asked me to confirm) as well as a whole load of other peoples and was not ready to give up lightly.

She told me that they were 'investigating us currently being overcharged for our gas and electric' - I told her we were not with Southern Electric and hadn't been for over 2 years and we were not interested in changing back to SE as we had just signed up to another supplier on a capped rate. She was extremely hard to get rid of and was adamant that we were with Southern Electric for gas supplies; was this just a ploy to get the details of who our current supplier is?

Am now panicking, having confirmed our name and address details with her and who our current supplier is, that we may suddenly find that we have been 'switched' without our consent.
