Project is to include some DVD footage into a holiday video I'm putting together which included a couple of film locations.
Yesterday I tried ripping the DVD with DVD shrink and then converting the VOB to AVI with AutoGK. Sadly either through my incompetence of misuse the resultant file lost its soundtrack, and when I tried loading it onto WMM it shut down with a protection error.
There must be a better way, has anyone succeeded, any hints and tips welcome.
Be seeing you (big clue!)
Yes I know WMM is a bit Mickey Mouse but at least I can drive it, just.

May be going slightly mad here, but can't you rip a DVD straight to .avi format ready for upload into WMM?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -

couple of things i (or anyone else who can help) need to know
what format is the holiday video? is it on VHS/ digital tape/ dvd/ hd?
what format do u want the final video? ie do you want to upload it onto web (.avi is ideal) or play it on dvd player (dvd is better)
i tried WMM few years ago to convert my digital tape to dvd but it failed miserebly
(quality is'nt worth the effort)
video editing needs skill and u'll only get it by practice (and several frustrating hours on the pc)
u can also try doom9.org or videohelp.com u'll find some guides0 -
Holiday video is on Mini dv, its imported onto the PC (Vista HP) as a .avi file.
The final video is published to DVD using windows dvd maker.
The commercial footage is on DVD.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
