That'll be "right way up forks" then, the old runners like the FX/SP had upside downs and they were REALLY bad for pitting, fortunatly it was a straight swap for VX forks though (or malossi if you were feeling flash)

Cheapest place for tyres is usually www.moto-tyres.co.uk , £34 delivered for a pilot sport
You also get pilot citys, takes longer to warm up than the sport but should get more miles out of it

The tyre is worn below 1mm. I hadn't actually noticed that in places it is slick, others it's OK.

Good well maintained machine this is, isn't it?

Yes it is actually. The tyre shouldn't be that worn imho, it was only 18 months old and the bike has only done about 2,000 miles on that tyre (a Michelin Pilot) - I expected it to last like a car tyre, but obviously not.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)
