Gas & Elec - confused?
I used Martin's link to the Energy Helpline website to compare prices.
We are currently with nPower and only receive bills in January and July. Firstly I compared the annual cost of our bills (although our payment option isn’t available in the drop down box) and found switching to monthly direct debit would be cheaper for us. To cap we would need to switch to British Gas but would be paying slightly more.
I then compared the kw usage. When I put in our annual usage the website says we are currently paying £633 per year!!! This is nowhere near the amount. Our last two bills for gas and elec totalled £1,395 plus vat for the year.
What does this mean?
Is it better to compare prices of bills or the kw usage?
Does this mean we are currently paying way over the odds for our gas & elec.
I’m finding this more than slightly worrying and getting more confused.
Help anyone….

If not shown on the bill and you want help in converting please come back, but we will want to know what type of gas meter you have, measures in 100's of cubic feet or in cubic metres.0 -
