Can I say thanks to everyone for your replies. I have already researched water and have been told as the property I am looking is metered it is just a case of letting them know that you have moved in, sky will charge £60 for an engineer and bt is free but will contract us in for 12 months, at least now I know there shouldn't be any big hidden charges to come out and scare me!

    Thank you :)

BT is free only if have lived in previous premises for a specific time (not sure if it is 6m or 1y) otherwise they will charge u moving fees used to be 80£, if no BT line there at that property before then they will charge connection fees etc for engineer call out, wiring etc. if disconnecting BT within specific periods from old property but not taking bt in new property there might be disconnection fees or something like that if u were in initial 6m of contract with them at previous property. i have been billed by them before for this but this was a while ago. dont know if things have changed since then
